What is The Jewish Table newsletter?

The Jewish Table is a clearing house for all things related to global Jewish cuisine. Each newsletter shares a recipe plus a story or historical/cultural tidbit to pique your curiosity and get you cooking.

What will I receive?

Paid subscribers receive a newsletter every week, plus have access to the full recipe archive, a weekly chat thread to connect with other readers called Friday Kibbitz, and other special offers. Unpaid subscribers receive a newsletter about once/month.

One week you might receive a recipe for Cardamom Pear Coffee Cake, Smoky Sweet Potato Hummus, or Shallot and Chive Stuffed Bagels. Another week, I might share the story of a mid 20th-century Jewish cookbook, ponder whether our grandmothers lied to us when sharing their recipes, or take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of Sukkot in Rome.

If you feel inspired to subscribe (or invite friends to join you), you can do that here. And most importantly, I want to hear from you! If you have a Jewish family food story to share, a dish you want to track down, or a question about anything Jewish food related, feel free to be in touch.

Bon Appétit / Beteavon / Es Gezunterheyt!

Who are you?

Oh hey! I’m Leah Koenig, and have been writing about Jewish food for over a decade, primarily for publications like The New York Times, The Washington Post, Food & Wine, Tablet, Food52, and Epicurious. I am the author of six cookbooks including The Jewish Cookbook (Phaidon, 2019) and Modern Jewish Cooking. (Chronicle Books). I live and breathe (and naturally eat) Jewish food, and have found there is always something more to learn and uncover. I am excited to share those discoveries directly with you.

I am also a longtime Brooklyn resident, wife of musician Yoshie Fruchter, and mom to two great kiddos, Max and Bea, who will occasionally make their way into the newsletter too! You can find me on Instagram here.

Why should I subscribe?

A paid subscription grants you access to the weekly newsletter, full recipe archive, a weekly chat thread to connect with other readers called Friday Kibbitz, and special offers. With a paid subscription, you never miss an update, story, or recipe - and you have my undying thanks for your support! Unpaid subscribers receive newsletters about once a month, and are warmly welcome too.
