It’s tricky to reduce sugar in cakes. Cut it back 1/4 cup but no more. It’s not overly sweet - promise! Hope you enjoy!

Aching for the perfect marble cake. Thanks so much for sharing. I always wanted to try one of her recipes. This one looks beautiful but it's a heck of a lot of sugar. Usually, one cup is my max sweetness...Does it taste wicked sweet? Is there a way to reduce sugar?

It doesn't taste overly sweet because there's 3 cups of flour. But I'll let @annebyrn comment about the possibility of reducing the sugar amount.

I just loved this interview with Anne Byrn, Leah! I’ve been enjoying her book ever since I got it a few weeks ago and eyeing both the apple and marble cakes as possibilities to bring to a Rosh Hashanah celebration this weekend. I might just make them both! My thanks to you—and Anne! And a Shana Tovah!🍎

Leah, it so happens Tom's birthday is Oct. 1 and after reading your piece I decided to make the marble cake for his birthday. It turned out beautifully and helped make his day extra special. Thank you for making Fridays special with your newsletter! Love from Auntie Barbara

Southerner here! We always had (what we called) chocolate drop cake at my great grandmother's house when I was a child. She died when I was 18, but nobody ever got the recipe so I have been trying to recreate it for years. I can't wait to give this one a try!
