You have me missing western Mass! (Darra edited the first bit of post-college food writing I'd ever published, too :) )

It’s such a special place, especially in fall! And that’s so cool. Was it for Gastronomica?

Yes! When I was a grad student at Williams, around 2009. And I'm thrilled to be writing for her again soon!

Mazel Tov Leah! What a thrill to hang with Sara and Darra -- two people I also adore. I'm looking forward to seeing you on the West Coast.

I LOVED the event - it was so joyful and fun. I went home and immediately started reading the book. It's fascinating and I now want to go to Rome (I haven't been since my senior year in college in 1988). My husband reminded me of a friend whose parents were Roman Jews, so I'm interested to talk to her more about their experience and the food. And I'm excited to check out Lehrhaus! Best for the rest of the tour!

There is so much joy in that group picture from Boston! Looking forward to diving back into Portico again now I'm back from Tuscany and also recovered from a bout of Covid - I've got everything for the slow braised beef stew lined up as well as some proper pasta to serve it with - though if I make it over a weekend I might pair with with homemade pici - I had so much brilliant wild boar ragu with pici on the trip I think your beef recipe might be the perfect way to bring the spirit of it to my wider family who keep varying levels of kosher.
