I’m sorry America.
I’m sorry Kamala and Tim.
I’m sorry my two sweet babies.
I’m sorry young girls for enabling them to take away your freedoms.
I’m sorry young boys that you watched cruelty win.
I’m sorry dear friends from marginalized communities whose safety will be collateral damage.
I’m sorry beautiful planet that you will suffer.
I’m sorry we failed you.
I’m sorry too many of us decided to sit this one out.
I’m sorry so many of us filled out down ballot races but left the top of the ticket blank.
I’m sorry not enough of us could bring ourselves to show up.
I’m sorry we are so divided.
I’m sorry for the grief of early dawn.
I’m sorry for the darkness to come.

But don’t forget the joy we felt.
Don’t forget the power in community.
Don’t forget the power of a strong, capable woman.
Don’t forget the power of a strong, good-hearted man.
Don’t forget tens of thousands of strangers dancing together, unified, night after night.
Don’t forget our insistence that kindness win over division.
We are still here.
We are still many.
I don’t know how we will find our way back to kindness.
The thought of fighting on feels impossible right now.
But we must. And we will.

So well said Leah. But we must keep in mind that our efforts must not end. We have two years now to flip Congress, and two after that to challenge for the presidency again. And we must start today to make sure that those opportunities are not taken off the table!
Beautifully expressed. But where do we go from here???
